Coral World Ocean Park

Obviously St Thomas is in the ocean or Caribbean, so you would expect there would be a trip to explore the ocean life and such. The best place for doing this on the Island is Coral World Ocean Park. In fact, there is a reason this place is voted one of the best places to visit in all of St. Thomas. So if you like studying sea life, walking the ocean floor, or swimming with dolphins, you must take a day and experience this place. I stayed at the Margarittaville resort which is just down the street (or across the bay). Depending on where you stay, you may get a discount on admission at the door.

Coral World Ocean Park Dolphins

Dolphins are amazing creatures. If you didn’t know that, you should visit Coral World Ocean Park and just attend the Dolphin Talk. One of the on-staff dolphin experts will tell you all about their resident dolphins and answer all your questions about these majestic creatures.

If listening to someone talk about Dolphins isn’t your thing, then take it up a notch by getting in the water and getting up-close and personal with them. For those that don’t want to swim, check out the Dolphin Moment experience. You’ll get personal time with a trainer and their dolphin. You’ll stand in the water and interact with these intelligent beings. For those that want to swim with the dolphins, check out the Dolphin Splash and Swim experience. While it’s a little pricy, it’s totally worth it. For those that want to just be around dolphins, there is the ability to grab a kyack and paddle around in the dolphin enclosure. I personally recommend the Dolphin Splash and Swim. They also take pictures of you and the dolphin to help you remember the experience… also totally worth it.

Walk on the Ocean Floor

While visiting the Coral World Ocean Park, make sure to to check out the Underwater Observatory. With general admission, you have the ability to descend the stairs and get a look at the ocean floor. Check out the fish and aquatic life as an observer 15 feet under the water’s surface. You’ll have a full 360 degree experience of looking at what lurks beneath the water.

For those that want to jump in and live a little, check out the SNUBA Experience. Without having to be a certified or trained diver, you can jump in and swim with the fishes – literally. If a walk under water is more your style, check out the SEA TREK Experience. While these are pricy add-ons, they are totally worth it. Come prepared with your own bathing suit and towel and experience some amazing things. Also, don’t forget they will take your pictures for you so you can remember these things.
