Agave Tequila Bar & Mexican Kitchen
It was a dark and stormy night and I was hungry. I needed food. Okay… it was actually 4pm and it was a light rain. After a day at the Coral World Ocean Park, we decided we needed food. So we headed to the Red Hook area near Vessup Bay. That’s where we found Agave Tequila Bar & Mexican Kitchen. The place was pretty empty for a Wednesday afternoon, but then again, who want’s to venture out in the storm for Mexican Food on a Caribbean island – well me, obviously.
Friendly Staff
Right off the bat, I was love the friendly staff at the Agave Tequila Bar & Mexican Kitchen. Estoban is by far the friendliest server I I met during my whole week in St Thomas. He knew the food and was engaging and fun to talk to. He had great recommendations. Most importantly, he kept the drinks coming and kept us laughing. While he was new to the restaurant, he is not new to food service or the island. I may have only spent two hours at Agave Tequila Bar & Mexican Kitchen, but it will certainly be one of my best memories of St Thomas.
Anyone can ask for a group picture from your sever, but not everyone gets a picture of the server and staff. These guys were awesome! Thanks Estoban and team!
Agave Tequila Bar & Mexican Kitchen Food
Of course the reason for visiting was for food. We started off with some chips and dip and some flautas. A round of drinks was perfect to get us started. I was in the mood for tacos, so Carne Asada street tacos it was. After devouring those, I got some Carnitas street tacos. They were unique and different, but not quite as awesome as the Carne Asada. Estoban said he loves the Carne Asada tacos and he loves to grab them for dinner and take them home and throw on his own home salsa. Also, a carmel apple empanada is a great way to finish off a meal here. This is the way to go in the Caribbean when you are craving some Mexican.
